Difatti, dopo 7 anni a Roma, tornammo a Cervia, dove restammo tre anni.

In 1988 my father died just a few months before Oriano was nominated Commander of the Wing.
In fact, after 7 years in Rome, we returned to Cervia, where we spent three years of our life. (See next post).
We enrolled Oriana in the first grade of the classical high school.
Even if those three years have been very important to Oriano's career, they were definitely less positive for Oriana and her student time.
I admit that part of that failure was certainly my fault: I was too committed following Oriano in the most important years for his career...
Now, Colonel, he was Commander of an airport, with about one thousand four hundred men to manage.
Unfortunately, I handled this situation with Oriana by telling her: "Your job is to go to school and please don't create problems".
In a few words, I basically told a fourteen-years-old girl "...don't bother us!".
So, as a (natural) reaction, our daughter didn't work hard enough at school, and at the end of the year, she failed. Perhaps, who knows, part of the problem was also her headmaster which was an openly declared anti-militaristic and biased against those coming from Rome.
Those three years in Cervia have also been the last flying opportunities for Oriano, son -and nephew- born into art.
