C’è in Olanda una tradizione, secondo la quale, in ogni casa deve esserci un "Verjaardag's kalender". Il calendario dei compleanni, nelle nostre case, ha una sua collocazione ben precisa: va appeso alla parete del bagno, in modo che sia ben visibile dal... water!
La motivazione di tale collocazione, va attribuita al fatto che ogni componente della famiglia, già di prima mattina non possa non vedere il calendario e, di conseguenza, le date annotate.
Il calendario può essere più o meno grande, più o meno bello, più o meno personalizzato. Esso non riporta i giorni della settimana né l’indicazione dell’anno, ma solo i mesi e i numeri dall’uno al trenta (o ventotto o trentuno, a seconda del mese).
Ad esempio nel mese di giugno, di fianco al 10, giorno del mio compleanno, si scrive ‘Dorina 1947’; e per le altre ricorrenze si mette prima del numero corrispondente al giorno, una croce per indicare la data di un decesso e due cerchi incrociati (rappresentanti due fedi) per indicare la data di un matrimonio.
Nel mio libro, ho voluto scrivere tutte le date. Ma qui non voglio certo tediarvi con questi dati.

The birthday calendar in our homes has its own precise location!
It should be hung on the bathroom wall so that it is clearly visible from the ... toilet!
The reason for this placement is due to the fact that each member of the family, from the very early morning, cannot miss the calendar and, consequently, the dates noted.
This calendar does not show the days of the week nor the indication of the year, but only the months and numbers from one to thirty (or twenty-eight or thirty-one, depending on the month).
For example, in June, next to 10, the day of my birthday, there's written 'Dorina 1947'; and for other occasions, a cross is placed before the number corresponding to the day, to indicate the date of a death and two crossing circles representing two wedding rings) to indicate the date of a wedding.
In my book, I wrote all the dates. But here I certainly do not want to bore you with these data.
