Visto che vi sto "presentando" la mia famiglia, voglio ricollegarmi alla pagina sull' artigianato dove avevo parlato prima di mio cognato Roberto e poi di mia Nonna paterna Omi (vedete questo link).
Cominciamo da mia sorella Alexandra... e qui si ripresenta il tema della famiglia che non esiste! Non avevo idea delle sue capacità: ho appreso che ha lavorato con il ferro, il legno e l'argilla.
Mia sorella Balwina è fra le tante cose, anche orafa.
Ha lavorato presso un orefice molto famoso a l'Aia, poi si è sposata a Buenos Aires con Roberto.
Lì, a periodi alterni, le cose sono state parecchio difficili per lei: la crisi economica, di conseguenza la situazione lavorativa di Roberto (Shell/petrolio) e tre figlie da crescere.
Si è rimboccata le maniche ed ha fatto di tutto e di più.
Con un gruppo di operai giardinieri realizzava giardini, ha imparato da un macellaio a tagliare la carne e, con Roberto, ha preso in gestione un supermercatino dove il sabato e la domenica lavoravano anche le figlie fino a quando le sono entrate dei ladri che hanno puntato la pistola alla testa di una delle ragazze che stava alla cassa... Quindi è passata all'immobiliare.
Anche lì la sua vena artistica l'ha aiutata molto.
Appena andata in pensione ha annunciato: "Ho lungamente lavorato per la famiglia... ora lo voglio fare per me..." E si è messa a dipingere.
E' bravissima - e questa non è una valutazione di parte! - ha un meritato successo che la soddisfa in pieno.

Mia sorella Graciema ha "acquarellato"!
Mio fratello Bastiaan? Ci ha lasciato quasi 15 anni fà, ma sono (quasi) sicura che non abbia avuto nessun talento creativo.
A lui piaceva l'acqua, e preferiva i fondali marini!!!
Mia figlia Oriana vive a Roma e fa l'assistente alla poltrona di un dentista.
Tira con l'arco insieme al suo compagno ed i suoi figli e progetta, crea, realizza saponi, creme, shampoo e anche qui non è una valutazione di parte, quando dico che è bravissima, perchè questi prodotti sembrano piacere a tante sue amiche e conoscenti. (personalmente ritengo la sua crema per le mani assolutamente fantastica. Non lascia le mani unte ma le ammorbidisce ed ha un delicatissimo profumo.)
L'altra cosa che le riesce molto bene sono i portachiavi che realizza con pendenti di metallo e nastri o cordini colorati.

As I am introducing my family to you I thought it could be nice to reconnect with my former pages where I told you about my brother-in-law Roberto and my grand-mother Omi (see link).
My sister Alexandra and here, again this family which in fact is not such! I had no idea of her abilities: I understood she worked with iron, wood, and clay.
My sister Balwina whom I already told you about, (see this link) needs a few words more.
I mentioned the fact that she successfully worked at a very famous goldsmith in The Hague.
A few years later she married in Buenos Aires. There, her life alternated very happy moments to some quite difficult ones: the Argentine's economic crisis, consequently Roberto's difficult work situation (Shell/oil), three daughters to raise... She rolled up her sleeves and did a lot: and much more than a lot.
For example, with a group of gardeners, she realized gardens, she learned from a butcher how to cut meat and, with Roberto, she took over a small supermarket where their daughters also helped on Saturdays and Sundays. Until some thieves came in and pointed the gun at her neck while being at the cash desk.
So she switched to real estate. Even there her artistic vein helped her a lot.
As soon as she retired she announced: "For a very long time I have worked for the family... now I want to do something for myself ..."
And so she started again painting.
She, definitely, is very good -and this is not a biased assessment! -
She has a well-deserved success that fully satisfies her.

My brother Bastiaan? He passed away nearly 15 years ago, but I am (pretty) sure he was not an artisan: his love was water. He's always been passionate about exploring seabeds.
My daughter Oriana. Someone I am very proud of. She lives in Rome and is a dental assistant.
She is an archer, together with her partner and her two boys. She designs, creates, makes soaps, creams, shampoos and even here it is not a biased evaluation when I say that she is very good in it: her products seem to please many of her friends and acquaintances (I personally think her hand cream is absolutely fantastic! It is not greasy but it softens your hands and it has a very delicate perfume. The other thing that she creates very well is key-rings made out of metal.
